Congratulations to Memorial senior, Makenah Grisson, for scoring her 100th career point in girls basketball last Friday night, 1/16, verse Keene High School. Going into the game, Makenah needed just 26 points to reach the 1000 point plateau, eventually tallying 32 points for the evening, in Memorial's 60-47 victory over Keene. According to Grisson's coach, Lindsay Gundy, "this acheivement is a testament to Makenah's hard work over her four years and her natural ability to get to the basket in creating her own shot. She is a fierce competitor, refusing to lose." A small forward for most of her career, Makenah was an immediate contributor her freshman year, including scoring 20 points in a quarterfinal game, of the state tournament. "She's a hard match up for a lot of opponents," states boys basketball coach, Jack Quirk, who had the privilege to coach Makenah her freshman year as girls head coach. Coach Quirk also describes her as a persistent offensive rebounder, who has the innate ability to score inside. Thanks to Grisson's contributions this year, Memorial has posted 7-1 record approaching the half way mark of this season. |
